Baby’s Song

Don’t move.
Don’t speak.
Just lie here next to me.

Inhale.
Exhale.
Breathe in time with me.

The dishes may pile and dust bunnies breed.
But what does that matter?
You’re here with me.

Kings may fall and climbed ladders fold.
But don’t miss me grow up, I’m not little forever.

Stay with me here, I’m right here-
And I am treasure.

  1. I wanted to cry reading this just now- I have two little ones – a 2 year old and a 6 month old – and this perspective haunts me. I have written similar things through a mother’s voice, but not in the babe’s this is moving beyond words. Thank you for writing this and listening not to the world’s demands, but to the heartbeat of where TRUE life lies.
